The Botanist

She always found an hour for flowers
But could not stop for Death;
Amid the flashes of haphazard dashes,
Aromas of roses on flesh –

She tarried with tulips and velvety violets –
No time for hemlock – nor rue.
She was a certain slant of innocence
Reflected in morning dew.

  1. I love this Chad, if I didn’t know better, I would say this was written about my mother in law. Shes 95 years old and has always had the most amazing gardens and flowers. My go to for plant info.
